Silverwood Farms June show was a busy one for KYB Dressage. Altogether over 21 horses from our group attended the three day horse show including newcomer Jean Dempsey with her two Lusitano stallions. Yvonne finally felt ready to ride Ray down the center line for his first Grand Prix test.
Fridays ride had a few errors, marginal weather to deal with and some tension and Yvonne was happy with her 66%. Saturday she debuted her Rocky soundtrack freestyle and was rewarded for her ambitious routine with a 74% from judge Tom Poulin. Sunday was the pairs second attempt at the Grand Prix and things went smoother with no actual mistakes other than some green and sprawly passage steps. Fran Dearing scored the ride over 72% and had many positive comments.
The show was highlighted by the Developing Horse and Young Rider qualifiers and Megan Wisnewski aboard Bentley had threes great rides winning the Junior Individual and the Freestyles and breaking seventy in her freestyle. The pair are developing a partnership and Megan is learning to ride the tests with accuracy and impulsion. Keegan O Brian rode Willkommen and they two had good go in the freestyle which was their best ride to date.
KYB had three in the Developing Horse test Eclipse owned by Carlos Macias and GP Delano owned by Grand Prix Equestrian each scored over 71% which puts them in good standings for the finals. Kim Barteau and Volontaire were a strong third in the class with a 68 even though they had a mistake in a line of tempi's.
Others showing included Celia Doherty on Rusty, Rose Grant on GP Ubillee, Kim David's five year old mare Dulcinea whom Yvonne rode to a 76% at Training level, Ryan Garza on Socrates (72 at second level) and Amy MacPherson on Weltzpitz winning at First level with a 73%.
It was a fun, rewarding and tiring weekend.
